Hello all, anyone knows if you can you use the thunderbolt ports (top or back) for displays, if you use a third party GPU (Radeon 6800XT)? On their website it says an mpx must be present but it doesn’t specify if the third party GPU will do the heavy lifting or not.
If not, has anyone tried using a PCI card with display port IN?

The DisplayPort signals that are input to the top or rear Thunderbolt controller of the MacPro7,1 are in the MPX slot. One would have to make an adapter with DisplayPort inputs to make that work with a non-MPX GPU.
