This accessory is not made to work with iphone

I continuously keep getting this message. It randomly pops up every 5 minutes or so even after I reset it and restored it and unlocked it. Any one have any ideas on how to fix it? Also, I don't know if this is related, but when I reset the phone it got really hot and the screen was gray and flickering. When I touched it, the home button was almost hot enough to burn me and I could smell it burning. Only way I could get it to do anything was to hold the home button and the lock button at the same time which resulted to it going into DFU mode.

Funnily enough, I received this message today. iPhone was just sat in an unplugged dock. Didn't feel warm however.
