So for a while now, whenever I connect my old IPhone SE to my charger, i get this message almost all the time. The only way it doesn't get the message is when i plug it in a certain way and then it charges with it showing charging in the top right corner. Majority of the time, i get this message but the battery bar does now show charging... but it is but very very slow.

Also my charging cable is in very bad shape so to speak. Like the long wiring part, you could see like its not white but like in bad condition. Is that most likely the reason for this? The other thing is my iphone se battery is worn out... 85% battery health remaining and the last battery change i got was few years ago. So I will be buying a new iphone soon.

But can anyone explain to me why I see this message? I do not have an extra iphone charging cable with me at the moment. So is this most likely the damaged charging cable? What about the other part the charging cable is connected to? I forgot the name of that... but its like the power hub? Could that be the cause? So its most likely the charging cable... then maybe my iphone battery and lastly that power hub?

Bad cables especially non Apple cables can provoke this warning. Also just a bad connection inside the lightning port can trigger it too even with a brand new cable.

First make sure that your lightning port is clean with no lint packed inside it -then the only option is buy an APPLE cable. Not a 3rd party one

Okay so most likely its the charging cable then right? Again its very rusted and looks damaged in a way if you know what i mean. So the other part the usb charging port... that most likely would not need to be replaced right?

Also i will most likely buy an iphone 13 mini soon. Would that charging cable be compatible with my old iphone se charging cable? Do i need to buy the iphone 13 mini cable myself or does it come with it?

New iPhones come with a lightning cable but they require a USB-C power supply to plug into. It has a USB-C plug on the charger end of the cable instead of the regular USB connector the older iPhones used.

All iPhone lightning cables can plug into all iPhones down to the iPhone 5.
Definitely replace your cable if it looks at all damaged or cruddy

Okay so would the old usb c that im currently using now with my old iphone SE work with the new iphone 13 mini then?

I assume not based on what you said?

If the cable has a lightning connector on one end and the other end can plug to any sort of power supply that can then plug into the wall — it can be used to power any iPhone from the iPhone 5 and up.

I'm confused. The iphone 13 mini comes with the lightning cable right? So if you never had an iphone ever, you would still need to buy the other part... the usb power adapter?

Again i have a usb power adapter and a very bad condition lightning cable for my old iphone SE right now. So i want to know exactly what i need to buy when i get the mini. Because i know it doesn't come with any earbuds.

The 13 mini will come with a brand new lightning to USB C cable. You need to buy a USB C power adapter to plug it into.

Your old power adapter uses the USB A connector, but your new iPhone mini will come with a USB C plug on one end and won’t plug into your old power adapter.

Either buy a new normal (old style) lightning cable and use your old power adapter or buy a new higher powered USB C power adapter and use the new cable that came with your mini. They both cost about the same.

Get this one:
