3.1 is the worst version of the iphone OS i have ever used and i have had a iphone since 1.0. My biggest issue is the terrible battery life on my 3G. I have a incase powerslider that was fully charged, and it burned through that in 4hrs, the main battery lasted another 4hrs. ive had to charge it twice today and right now its at 45% according to istat. 3.0 had acceptable battery, but since the upgrade it has been awful, I'm afraid to use it for anything since it seems to be bleeding juice. I have push off, wifi off, screen at half brightness, fetch off, and notifications off, i refuse to turn off 3G because i bought a 3G for 3G. The phone is only a little over a year old, and i would consider my usage normal for people with these types of phones. I'm sick of the battery, the buggy OS, and the network, but what alternative do I have? once you go iphone you really can't go back...

since you have a 3G, I think your able to downgrade to 3.0.1? Google it, I know 3GS owners cannot.

Considering my friend's inCase Slider caused him very degraded signal strength, do you think it's possible that Slider may be doing the same to your phone and making the phone deplete battery faster because of the worse signal?
Not, just 3.1?

I don't understand how so many people could be having battery problems with 3.1. I charge my phone overnight and use my phone for a grand total of 4 hours during the day and my battery will be at 60%, if that.

My daughters 3G was on 3.0(jailbroken). I made an appointment with the Genius Bar for later today as the battery life was terrible.Would drop 30% in half hour just listening to music.
Restored to 3.1 last night(11 hours ago).Have listened to about 1.5 hours of music.Played games for 1+ hour.Currently leaving it playing music and battery is about approx 75%.

I assume I can cancel Genius appointment.

I know I use mine for at least an hour to play music in the car, and I do a bit of reading in news apps and Web sites from time to time. I then probably use it for more music, often without turning the display off. Even with the heavy use I had yesterday, I still had 10 percent when I got home.

So no, I don't get it either. I really don't get why people complain and complain on here as if we can fix it. It sounds to me like bad batteries, which a Genius can diagnose and fix.

Actually, yeah, Geniuses do have an ap they can install on your iPhone to diagnose battery issues. If the OP (or anyone else) is having battery problems, they should take it in.

wow, i don't know what i did, i had almost the same exact problem, everytime i turn on, it would take a couple of seconds, then once the screen turns on, my battery had gone down a good chunk. but now, i just went 2 days without charging, and it's still at 26%.

I found a giant bug in the Exchange support that was causing my battery to deplete even when the phone was in standby. Standby/Usage time was identical when you looked at Usage in the Settings app.

I've submitted the bug reports and feedback to Apple. I've since just removed the account and it is back to normal. I'd suggest disabling exchange accounts if you have one and see if it changes anything for you.
