ok, i've decided to give it a go so I'll get it and will report a bit later what I feel. If someone has other suggestions then feel free to chip in, please. I'm interested in portraits and want to improve in that area.

Thank you in advance

In the past I've used the tools on Nikon's website. This might sound weird but I've also used Canon's site too. On the Canon site they will discuss a particular type of photography like shooting flowers or fireworks. Even though they are using Canon settings, you can easily apply the technics with your Nikon. After you figure out which Auto focus you need in you can focus on where to set your Aperture and Shutter.

Nikon Digitutors I looked at the camera and some of the Pro and in between

Canon tips

And anything on youtube search "Nikon Autofocus"

I bought this book too. In all honestly I could have probably written myself but I live by axiom that there's always something to learn no matter how well versed you might be in said subject. Just looking through the first 3rd of the book, it looks like an excellent resources for those who may struggle with focus and which settings to use and when.

You know it makes sense! ;)
I think that it does. Shame that the rumours are for next year. Now I'm sorting the finances for it and will probably purchase around may or so. Waiting for the reviews of the new sigma art 24-70 with hopes that it will surpass the Nikon one so I can save some money there also. Time will tell :)

Really? still not pushed the button?!?!
No but will do soon. Realised that waiting till next year is too long if it was summer this year I would be fine but next year is just too long. Shame though as the new touchscreen looks nice on the d7500 and the af is probably better than on d750, no?
