If you post a picture taken in your home, it tells everybody exactly where you live... That could present a security risk.

But yeh as greygray said it's called geotagging and has to be allowed on the iPhone.
No it doesn't have to be allowed. The first time he used his camera he agreed to allow for his photos to be geotagged. Not once but twice at that.
There is an app on the app store that will allow you to access geotagged information call Koredoko.
