I unjailbroke my iPhone, not that it matters. However, something is messed up. I wasnt able to unjailbreak on my computer, i had to use my brothers. My computer would always fail at preparing for restore. I now have an iPhone 5S with ios 8.1.1. I can't add music to it thru mediamonkey or itunes. Mediamonkey starts syncing and immediately stops, while itunes says it can't recognize it. Im not falling for that restore crap again because i know it will fail. Someone noted that something was wrong with my hosts file in a previous thread, however they didn't help me with that after they noted that. I just want to get Music on my phone again. Any help?

There a plenty of existing tutorials on the Internet about how to direct your host file to Cydia or how to comment out the redirection and return your host file to Apple.

i uninstalled itunes, deleted the apple computer folder, and deleted my hosts file. i then reinstalled itunes thinking it would reinstall the hosts file but i guess i was wrong. So i made a text document, named it "hosts" and put these two lines in there. I saved it to Windows/system32/drivers/etc
127.0.0.1 localhost
::1 localhost
iTunes still doesnt recognize my phone and i still cannot sync with mediamonkey.
EDIT: did what windows support told me to do and made a hosts file with this:

If its a issue with iTunes its more than likely a driver issues

make sure that the text file does NOT have an extension to it
by default, windows hides the extension name for known file types. so your text file that shows "hosts" might actually be "hosts.txt"
do you have the latest version of iTunes?
It is just hosts. Not hosts.txt. I completely removed all apple software and all the other steps in the guide above. Reinstalled. Same problems. I am downloading 8.1.2 right now and will restore when it is done. I will get back to you guys with the results.
