It's some CxO guy who got fired from HSK Nordbank in Germany for being suspected of trading bank secrets, if anyone cares.

The more interesting thing is: It's probably the first time I've seen a Mac on a TV program (in this case the federal 10:30PM news) which is produced in Germany.

The Mac and iPad are worth more than the rest of the office, classic nerd

That was the first time you have seen a Mac on TV? I see them all over the place.

Yeah macs are in a lot of films and I've also noticed that a lot of adverts here in the UK use like a cartoon appearance of safari as their browser to show people what website to go to.

Really? These are shows that I can think from the top off my head that uses Apple, and I'm lucky if I can watch an hour of TV a day.

In US series, this is not a big deal. Seinfeld had a Mac, Ted Mosby from How I Met Your Mother has an iMac since season one, Sex And The City's Pismo PowerBook, i.e. (Btw, Mythbusters are now sponsored by Microsoft, advertising Windows 7 and don't use Macs in the show anymore)

But you miss the point of significance, I'll lay it out for you: Traditionally, Germany (and likely the rest of the EU) is PC land. Macs were used only in the graphic designing, Audio/Video editing and DTP environment.

It means that Apple's Marketing has done a pretty good job changing the Mac from a high-end tool to average joe's browsing and spreadsheet machine, and that PCs loose market share in one of their core markets - they're becoming mainstream. As this is just starting, you can expect Apple to grow even further in Europe. I guess you can blame that completely on the iPhone and it's aggressive advertising, as iPods didn't affect Mac sales a lot.

Besides, this is a real life office in a newscast, not a TV show with placed ads, as this station is federal and by law not allowed to place ads in their shows at all. But you can see how impressing even they found an 27" iMac, as they did a whole sequence entirely showing the Mac with the guy entering in the background and start browsing.

honestly, who doesn't hide/show the dock?
keeping it there looks stupid.

I don't. I tried the hiding thing in Panther on my 12" PB and found it to be royally annoying because it kept having an inconsistent effect of resizing windows when apps launched.

Also, i understand where you're coming from OP

Criminal Minds all got iPads last week, house uses apple monitors, laptops and iMacs. CSI (all) have used iPhones since they were first released...

List goes on. It's free advertising. Minus Mythbusters, Adam is a Apple geek.

That's not a 27". I reckon 20 or 24".

That's a 27" iMac.
Can't be a 24" ACD, as it has a chin. Only the iMacs have chins. Can't be a 21.5" iMac due to the amount of stuff on the desktop/size of the browser window relative to the webpage, and also to the keyboard.

It is not a 27" iMac. Just take a look at the glass cover. The 27" as well as the 21.5" have a borderless class cover, whereas the older iMacs still have a thin aluminium border around it. And who said ACD?

*sigh* about 99% of the people in this thread need some serious help. They have quite some problems regarding reading or interpreting things. All of the things they mention are American shows, programs, etc. None of them come from the EU or Germany (where the TS lives!).

I agree with the TS you don't see a lot of Macs on European television. In the Netherlands there is this soap called "goede tijden, slechte tijden" (the Germans will know this too but as the German version "gute zeiten, schlechte zeiten"). They used to be sponsored by Apple and were the only tv show in .nl where they actually had Macs. Nowadays they aren't sponsored by Apple any more and you won't find a single Mac as far as I know. However, there is a tendency that you see more Macs in other tv programs, like news related programs.

I can also see where you're coming from it is a rare thing, however there are more Macs on german TV than you think. Just look on pretty much every News program where there is a Laptop on the Desk. It's almost always a Macbook/Pro. You just don't recognize it, since they hide the glowing Apple. Just saw exactly this yesterday evening on the Channel ZDF.
