I never have wifi on when out of the house. I don’t see the point of wasting the battery
modern day turning on wifi doesn't drain your battery anymore, it's just a receiver and uses no measurable power (less than 1mw)

However, turning on improves your GPS accuracy, allows you to airdrop, handoff also enables the new Apple Watch unlock.

So why not?

There is no difference in battery life with or without wifi on apple watch. I was also pissed, because I never use WiFi on AW.

I’ve never turned wifi off on any device except when I’m in a location with very slow wifi service and want to make sure the device uses the faster cell network. No battery issue ever unless a particular app gets stuck running, rare but it happens.

Thanks that is really good to know!
