Ram is always “enough”, but never something obscene like when oneplus released a phone with 8gb of ram. Most of that ram was impossible to use, but it looked good on a spec sheet and some people liked the idea of having that much ram, even if android couldn’t utilize it all.

Battery life is always good enough for about a day for the plus phones and less than that for the smaller phone. Apple routinely has the smallest batteries around, but iOS is so optimized they don’t “need” a 3500mah battery like big android phones do. Apple has never made a phone that is targeted toward power users. It’s not bad, but they definitely prioritize thin over extra mah.

Storage has always been low on the base model. You could get more, but you would pay for it. For the first time ever in my opinion, Apple has gone “extreme” with their 512gb storage option. I don’t think many people need that much storage on their phone, but it’s available for those who do, or those who just feel like dropping $1500 and having the most powerful phone in the world.

I think that if the 512gb X Max came with an extreme battery (4000mah) and extreme ram (6gb) that it would honestly perform super fast for damn near 5 years. Apple would lose money if they did that. I am not saying they subscribe to the idea of planned obsolescence, but I feel like if they ever pulled out all the stops it may hurt their bottom line. They give us enough to make us happy, but hold back at the same time.

making sure that the phone can do what is advertised at an affordable price = value for money
making sure that the prospective customer thinks the phone can do more than what is advertised = marketing

how apple makes money =
apple does a really excellent job at making money through supply chain control.
but its also always been just as clear that apple reads customers well, and, reads market timing well.
that is how apple makes alot of money.

none of the above has anything to do with lack of ability "to pull out all stops."
apple is the leader in ensuring your phone can still be used 3 or 4 years from now.
