I don't think any of it is a problem.

Macrumors server tracks everything you do on it as well including browser, location and other things. Everything you do on the internet is tracked.

This doesn't bother me either.

I love DuckDuckGo until I actually try and use it to search for something. Google always gives me something relevant, DDG is always off.

I have moved away from Android, Gmail, and most of the other services Google offers, but they're always going to be a better search engine because of these things that people hate so much about them.

I use DuckDuckGo too, and agree that search results weren't as good as Google's, especially in the beginning. I stuck with DDG and have noticed a lot of improvement recently. I rarely need to use Google search now.

None of that's really surprising. It's creepy in an overall sense, but still no more than Facebook, Apple, or MS already knows about you, plus or minus one or two things.

Plus there is the NSA that assumingly knows everything.

LOL, Google doesn't know very much about me because I have all of its services turned off. It was correct in stating that I had signed on 36 minutes ago, and once earlier in November.

Plus, I regularly clear my history, cookies, etc. on every device I use and use Ghostery on Chrome.

I'm surprised, I'm doing a better job of keeping my personal info from Google than I thought! :)

Surprisingly not nearly as much as I thought. They have no location history for me, mainly just the search history (which is expected since that's what Google does best). They also know that I'm using an iPhone and a Mac. No big deal there.

Google saved me a few days ago warning me that sometime attemptedto log into my account. I logged in and thewarning said that someone knows my password. I changed it but I've forgotten what it is now so I'll have to change it again.

I opted out before Google changed their policy. So they know nothing about me directly (location, age, search history, nothing on Google drive) but they build a profile based on usage to try to target ads. Some of the guesses they make are hilarious.

I bet these sites are designed to put the fear of god in users.. And most of the time, it works just because users are paranoid... yet no one mentions their ISP, which tracks everything you do online.

However, the same fear is not "out in the wild" because ISP's don't tell us in full what they do...

See how this works ?

But yet, we still go through our ISP.

In fact any server that keeps logs will harvest your info anyway...... so really, we all complain about it, but how much of us act on it in full?.. not just using a VPN, because the end point still knows...

If you really want to be secure, most users would just use a VPN to their office & stay on their Local LAN.. They wouldn't bother gong outside of that, because off fear to being known... that's what not even 10% of the content..... ??

That's how i see it all.

However they only know about you personally because users must enter their correct details... When users don't even realize they have control...... Their privacy policy and TOS are all well and good, but if users get tracked by real name etcc... it's their own fault since they signed up using real info..

This is why i never do that on websites... It doesn't prevent it, but it makes it harder. And, that's my goal :D
