I've absolutely no idea how I've picked up that scratch; it will have been in the garage whilst training more than likely...

The Spigen screen protector has done it's job superbly; it's about an inch long and you can feel it with your nail etc

Ok... I'd say by the depth of the scratch; the watches own screen wouldn't have stood much better... And I'd rather waste a screen protector than have a damaged watch
sapphire crystal is much much more scratch resistant than tempered glass so you really can't make any guesses based on a scratch on tempered glass.

I'm not saying that; what I am saying is I'm not prepared to take the risk, no matter what's said about how tough the glass is etc
I share your mentality here. I run my ultra 2 with a ghost armor screen protector on it. You literally can't even tell its on there but its just that little bit of insurance. I know the sapphire is stronger but I've wanted enough Jerry Rig videos to see just how easily things can still be scratched.

Yup; the Spigen screen protector is a superb fit and it's hard to see its on there...

And with my silly hobbies of lifting heavy things inc. big rocks etc; it only needs a slight tap or to catch it when I' unaware and that's it; scratched.

It'd a) do my nut in, b) do my OCD in and c) for me, ruin it's value if I were to ever sell it on!

I like my gadgets to be spotless :)

I’ve stopped using screen protectors on my 2018-bought AW4 after about three years, as I got tired of constantly looking at a scratched up and peeling protector and figured I was going to replace the watch in about a year anyway.

I ended up using that watch for three more years, and just replaced it with AW9 a month or so ago. There’s not a scratch on it, and I have not been babying it at all.

I've never worn a screen protector on my AWU and have beat the hell out of it. The screen has never had a mark on it. I wear it playing beach volleyball, hiking, working out, yard work, etc. I never take it off and its always been scratch free.

The reason why I use a screen protector and case on my £800 AWU2 is I have hobbies like this:

https://photos.app.goo.gl/Pbpzidg76DMobF4j8 < That's the Inver Stone in Braemar FYI

And also, when unsupervised in the garage, do stupid things like this too: https://photos.app.goo.gl/Pbpzidg76DMobF4j8 😂 < That's a 120kg lump of sandstone with a 20kg plate taped to it

And in between stupidity I still train some basic powerlifting (retired from competing now) and I train a lot of grip based lifts too...

So all in, my watch needs protecting

I feel the same on my Garmin.

Screen protectors are so dirt cheap that it’s absolutely worth it no matter what the quality of the underlying glass is

It’s not the matter of price. They lower the display quality and they tend to scratch up pretty fast so I end up looking at a lower quality scratched up screen most of the time. Since I tend to use the watch for many years I don’t care about resale value, it’s going to be small regardless. I want to have the best experience for myself, not for whoever I eventually give or sell it to.

Very good; but it's each to their own...

And the Spigen screen protector does not in any way lower the display quality; it's crystal clear, very sensitive and does a good job of what it's meant to do
