I’m a student and I live in UK.
The Pro Apps Bundle for Education (which includes Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro etc..) is 199$ in USA , which translates to about £140.
The same bundle is for about £199 in UK.
It seems like US doesn’t verify whether you’re a student or not, whereas UK does.

If I buy via the US store I save about £60.
Can anyone warn me about anything to take into consideration? Is this wrong?

In my opinion, it is wrong to buy from the U.S. store if you don't live in the U.S. The chances of you getting caught and Apple removing the purchase are slim to none.
So you think it’s morally wrong but otherwise they wouldn’t remove the purchase?

The us site might not add VAT, which might make up for most of the difference. But Apple usually also has a margin for currency exchange rate differences.

One other thing: often you need to login at a website that checks your education status. I had that with Apple Music as well.

Over here
Have you tried to add to the basket and checkout? I would be surprised it does not ask for a US address/ZIP Code or some other form of proof of address.

Correct. Unless Apple's system is somehow triggered by the purchase, you will probably be fine.
They normally take 3/4 days to process the order, my guess is that they use that time to verify whether my details are correct. I think I’ll wait and probably make the purchase via the UK store when I can, rather be safe. I think I’ll get it from the UK store, I’ll just have to wait a bit

They do, but I mean putting in a wrong address is not that big of a deal.. it’s just I don’t know if it’s worth it , kinda feels like they can find out and perhaps put a ban on other purchases or something

Any software purchase from Apple is associated with an Apple ID. Your Apple ID.
Because of that, they already know your address and that it is in the UK.
My guess is that it will just redirect you to the UK store.

It's not just a moral objection: strictly speaking, once you put false information into the website in order to get the reduction, you're laying yourself open to a criminal charge in the UK — on the face of it, it's a straight up case of Fraud by Misrepresentation (have a look at the Fraud Act 2006). So 'putting in the wrong address' actually is quite a big deal.

Whether you'd be detected or not, or whether you'd be prosecuted is a different matter, but if you're asking whether it would be wrong to do, then the answer is 'it's illegal', so obviously the advice to you has to be 'don't do it'.

Moderator note: this would be a good time to review #8 in "Things not to do" of our forum rules. I don't think it has been violated yet by this thread, but we're getting close. ;)

I just purchased the Pro Apps Bundle for $199USD when I pre-ordered the new M1 iMac using EDU pricing.

I received an email from Apple saying that I would receive and email with keycodes to download the Final Cut, Logic Pro, Motion, Mainstage, Compressor apps using my EDU associated email address.

I seem to recall when going into the Education Store for the first time, here in the USA you verify you're a student by selecting your school from a list of drop-down names, or by zip code or whatever. Then once verified you can make the purchases, but they may take a bit longer. This is how I was able to buy the Pro Apps For Education bundle. Of course I don't use MainStage, but I've found Logic Pro useful for one of my college courses where we had to make narrative audio files (almost like a mini-podcast) as one type of assignment, since GarageBand seems to focus more on making music (unlike in 2006-2010 when it had a dedicated podcasting mode), and I've used Motion and Compressor a few times, but Final Cut Pro is still my most frequently-used Pro App.

Is an EDU email address required?
Yes, Apple Education in the US requires that my email is part of the educational institution.

It's weird, I still use my old EDU email (MS Outlook) from 15 years ago when I first started using it for Apple EDU purchases. Now we are on Google mail web with a different suffix, but my old email still gets transferred / relayed to Gmail....

Even my Apple Card is tied to the old EDU address which is scary because if my work ever pulls the plug on the old Outlook mail server then I am toast....

Not sure why this needs to be a thread. Just go to the US Apple website and attempt to make the purchase. If you're able to without providing false information, then you're set. If you have to lie, then stop and order through the UK store.
