Here is an old picture I came across of my grandparents. It is not in good condition and I am going to Photoshop it to make it look good as new. Lets see how well everyone else can make it look as well. I will post my finished one later tonight. Lets see your creations!!!

im having a little trouble getting the hair good.....i used the patch tool to get all the heavy creases and tears out, but that left the area a little paler than the others. so what i did was used the magic wand tool on the background (everything except their faces).....then i used the burn tool for the hair to try to bring out the dark on a new layer, but i cant seem to find the right brush + opacity combo on it.....

any help is greatly appreciated

Well, I'm not sure we're uninterested, but if you gonna do this in Photoshop, it's a multi-hours job to make it look good... and I'm not sure most people will spend many hours on your image...

Now, on the other hand, there is supposed to be other applications available, that should be able to fix these kind of images "automatically". So maybe those knowing of any of those apps can provide links, and maybe even a finished result from that app...?

Yes, some people would charge quite a bit of money to set this right.

My main suggestion is to retouch on layers with the base image locked as the background. That way any edits can be easily removed, altered or knocked back if necessary.
