I have had an iMac 24" 2.8Ghz Extreme for a few weeks and I finally got tired of it locking up. So I brought it back this morning and exchanged it for a MBP SR 2.4Ghz notebook.

I actually had a 2.16Ghz but got rid of it because I wanted the big screen on the iMac. Well I'd rather have more stability and I did miss the portability of the notebook. So here I type on my new machine.:D

how much has it cost you to end up pretty much where you were before?

Your mbp will do things great, but you do know that the iMacs locking up is a software issue right? Won't you feel sorry when the firmware fix is out and all iMacs stop freezing?

Have fun with the mbp!

Yes, I do know that. However that doesn't help me now when I NEED to use the machine. Besides, I realizes I won't miss it as I am sitting on my reclining couch computing!! Like I said above, I missed the mobility

I just bought a Macbook Pro. LOVE IT!!! anyway.... i'm wondering why you bought a dock? I'm asking because i don't want to load my laptop with music files. I sync my Touch to my desktop. BUT i would want to connect my iPod Touch to the laptop to listen to music while charging. When i try to do that, all the music is greyed out, i can't play anything off the iPod. When i hook up my Nano or Mini, it works fine. But most of my music is on the Touch.

Does the Universal Dock allow this?

I posted a question in the iPod Touch forum with no replies as of yet about this.

Nice choice. Shame about the freezing issue, but if it's portability you're after then you've gone for the right model. :D Also slightly sad you lost about $400 on the round journey but at least now you know you're not missing out on anything. :)

Timing my MacBook Pro purchase

Hi

I'm in the market for a MBP 15" 2.4 ghrtz. I'm trying to anticipate any major upgrades to this model and purchase accordingly. Does anyone know or rumor to know if this model is being upgraded in time for Jan. release?

I'd like to buy now but if there is a major upgrade it may be wise to wait.

Check out this thread "Realistic Macbook and Macbook Pro Upgrade rumor" it may have some answers for you. Of course everything is just speculation.
