This new OS = Lightning Fast

As per the title.

This OS is lightning fast. I am in love with it.

My early 2013 15" rMBP has zero UI lag, it is like I have a new machine. My late 2014 MBA is also running exceedingly fast.

Yup, I'm in love all over again. Actually using full screen mode for almost everything, multiple desktops, auto hidden menu bars, all because it's fast and fluid. Only gripe is Photos not working 100%..

I still have Snow Leopard on my 2007 macbook and Time Machine is not broken,Disk Utility is not a childish gui,Battery life is not less then past OS,MS Office runs just fine,Fans don't run more then last OS ect ect.

I have this feeling that PR machine for both Microsoft and Apple has been at work planting this idea that "Windows 10 is the best Windows" and "El Capitan is the new Snow Leopard" and it's worked so well that people actually believed it. For me the main differences between Yosemite and Cappy are 1) Cappy breaks Cubase and VirtualBox, and 2) the new Disk Utility is like Barbie software. Possibly I'd notice the difference if I had installed Cappy on our 2011 iMac, but I'm not doing it until VirtualBox is fixed.

Yosemite was a major update and as time goes on, Apple is going to work on improving the anomalies - thats what they've done with El Cap.

A simular method is being used on iOS, where 7 was big and 8/9 are refinements.

If you would've read Steinbergs statement on El Cap, they suggested that no one updates to 10.11 due to incompatibility of their software at this time.

It's unfortunate that people jump the gun and update their OS without checking compatibility of their apps first.

I know. I don't use Cubase all that often and so found out too late. My own fault. Hopefully 10.11.1 fixes it.

Seriously, I agree... Those who said El Crap is comparable to Snow Leopard speed, they ought to revisit the real OS X Snow Leopard again...

Incorrect, Snow Leopard had a lot more under the hood improvements and fixes while it didn't remove as much functionality like 10.11 does. tom vilsack summarised most of the removed features but Apple also removed Secure Erase and Spotlight is dumped down. (Why Apple didn't include option to turn of natural language search I have no idea, Boolean logic is much more efficient.)

El Capitan has potential to be better than Yosemite assuming Apple fixes these issues but that isn't impressing...

Fixed. Yosemite had more bugs than I previously thought possible (only bested by Lion) and its "improvements" were irrelevant to my needs. Needless to say I am not impressed Yosemite or El Capitan...

I agree.Dont forget the metal ********,personally I don't experience any speed increase anywhere.Apple know the placebo effect that advertisement has on fanboys.They see everywhere speed increase even in apps that not support it.I call it in the mouth of madness.
I really really regret that I sold my iMac with snow leopard in its last release,buy the retina MacBook and join the Yosemite era.

I do. My boss's 2010 mbp is still on SL. My 2012 mbp is on El Cap. And every action, or animation on my 2012 is on par, or way quicker than the 2010 on SL. Of course, I have an SSD in mine. If there was an SSD in the 2010, im convinced it would be completely on par. Thats for general "speed". Concerning stability and "under the hood" improvements, El Cap is still not there, but, I would wait for at least .2 or .3 update to compare honestly. I know SL is a great, stable OS, but there also seems to be a bit of an exagerated nostalgia to how "rock solid" it was. My 2 cents.

I'm also on 2010 MBP with SSD, Snow Leopard is still faster in a lot of things. For a start, Finder is more responsive when going around folders. App launching is half a second faster, almost instantaneous on SL compared to a single bounce on Dock on El Crap. I still find SL more fluid in animation compared to el Crap. The latter although fast, it tends to drop frames at times.
