my mb has a darker region right around where the dock bar normally is.

does anybody else have this problem?

i don't know if this is enough to warrant an exchange, since it's a week old, but its not too obvious...just a gradual graying out towards the bottom middle section. the left and right sides of the lower display is fine.

actually...i remember someone posting a picture about this problem a while back, but his was way worse.

As far as I know, its common on both the MacBook and Pro version.

Its how the display is light, and apparently not a fault.

... I think. But I may be incorrect, or yours might be worse than the 'norm'.

I'm new to Macs, but if the dock bar is at the very bottom, mine is the other way around, lighter there then getting darker on the way up the screen. I assume its backlight bleeding.

Thats what mine is like. If I'm printing something important out, I have to look down on my screen, to make sure it has the exact colour I need.

If I turn up the brightness, colours are very washed out. I'm about two bars below midpoint.

mine is not like that.... definately not "normal".

Same here, the screen on my MacBook Pro does not have this issue. Sounds like you need to contact Apple about a replacement recentgrad- your screen should not be giving you this problem.
