Evening,

I removed from my 2011 iMac 27" this RAM - 2x2GB 1333 MHz DDR3 SDRAM PC3-10600

My 2014 iMac 27" currently has this RAM - 2x4GB 1600 MHz DDR3 SDRAM PC3-12800 and 2 slots open.

My question is, can I add the RAM from the 2011 to the 2014 or is that a no no?

Thank you.

One way to find out... Try it
The memory bus will clock down to the slowest memory speed, and work OK
Or, you will get error beeps, or no boot (because the memory is not compatible.)
Either result will answer your question.

DM I appreciate your reply. All is working fine with my wopping 4GB addition. It does actually give a small performance boost. Might put off ordering the actual matching RAM as I determine whether or not I need it yet.

Thank you.
