I'm wanna search for some examples of the metallic cross-hatch (ish) pattern that we have in system preferences. I have seen it used in many apps as well. its a nice, machine-like pattern like the body of the Mac Pro's.

I want to look at some pictures. But i just don't know how to search for what I'm looking for. I've tried the following keywords.. cross hatch, metallic, machine, chassis, steel

Does anyone know how I can hit the spot?

no, not really but thx. its more about the fact that there are criss crosses in the surface. like if you take a look at the system preferences icon, its the surface behind the wheels :)

i zoomed in on the symbol and looking at its background i think maybe these words will help

polka dot
perforated
mesh
screen
grill
lattice
plaid
grid
honeycomb
chicken wire
pin (something)
pin hole

if these arent it they may yield a pattern or tessellation with a similar effect
good luck
and merry christmas (holiday of your choice)

Are you talking about checker plate?

Edit, looking at your original post, no you're not.

Like Sammich said, if you're looking for the pattern that's on the Mac Pros, try searching "perforated metal".

I ran a quick istock search with that term and got a ton of good results.

Wow, a picture apparently is worth a thousand words. :p

So you are indeed looking for some pattern vaguely like this, as used in the Mac Pro enclosure?
