Any news from your carrier and where you are based when it is coming to your area? I know it's in London already.

I'm on EE and they finally rolled it out in Lincoln (Lincolnshire). We're mostly farmland so it's surprising. EE have rolled it out to a tonne of places.

4G? We don't even have 3G where I live on O2 (rural Shropshire)!

I've got a 4G contract though - partly because I got double data for signing up and partly because I spend a lot of time in London

Still waiting for 3 to roll it out but I won't complain. 1, it's free and 2, 3G is already fast enough!

Just before Christmas I decided to move to EE to try their 4G service after being with O2 for over 10 years. I was pretty impressed with their download speeds in Belfast city centre.

The problem is that when I leave the city and head out to the outskirts of the suburbs, the 3G and even just normal phone reception is pretty poor. I get sketchy reception at home.

I've read that EE are decomissioning 3G towers to continue to expand their 4G network, and that this is affecting coverage outside of 4G areas. I don't know how much of this is true or not, but I kind of wish I'd stayed with O2 for overall reliability. Hopefully things will change over the next year, otherwise I'll be moving again.

Giffgaff launch 4G next month, but as they runs on O2's network looks like i won't be able to get it as there still no sign or info as to when Wigan will get 4G , the only decent 4G round here atm is from EE, Vodafone's 4G is due very soon, as for Three don't care if they launch super 5G wizbang++ tomorrow flaming hate that network.

Not from my experience with them signed upto a 12 month sim only deal, all was great for the first month then they starting having problems, where as i was getting virtually no signal at all, and what signal i did get was under 1mb/sec, this went on for over a month being told different crap all the time saying it be fixed in a few days, then being told they don't know when it gonna get sorted.

I got fed up so went ahead and cancelled my contract due to no signal only to find i was still being billed for it, so back on the phone again to tell them i cancelled it, only to be told they had no record of me cancelling and them to hang up on me twice!!!!...... I was fuming.

Eventually I did manage to get it cancelled properly after i stopped the direct debit to them & told them on the phone they won't be getting another penny from me.

Never again will i go with this terrible network & the thing is I'm not the only one suffering from constant problems both 3's Twitter & Facebook page is full of nothing but people fed up with having no signal or being throttled.

Totally agree with your view. Tried using them in East London and their unlimited data was 300Kbps at most. Everyone I know who tried them for the unlimited data have moved on to another carrier.

I get 43 Meg download and 34 Meg upload on EE 4G from the same area today.

Especially in areas with HSPA+ .. When I worked in Welwyn Garden City I had 23Mbit/s download and 11 upload .. I barely downloaded anything from home (6Mbit/s down, 0.6 up) so always tethered my laptop there.

Downloaded an average of 60-80GB and Three didn't even flinch .. Their ONE plan is just great and truly unlimited. But I seem to remember they said rollout in areas like London will be by end of last year, but nothing yet. London's network is horribly congested so I hope they do something soon, as I work there now :)

My home area won't see 4G in years I think ... They suggest that we won't be getting BT Infinity until the end of 2015 and companies like Virgin don't even have official plans to roll out cable.

White city has 4g and it's very fast next time I'm over there I'll run a test. Had one but must have deleted it. From memory it was 120down 70 up

I'm on Three. No news yet but HSPA+ is fast enough so no massive rush.
