Not a question here, just an opportunity to laugh ... at me...

Long time macbook pro user here. Just got my feet wet with a new (to me) used 2009 mac pro (going to setup an owncloud server)... So, I was wondering why VMWare asked if I wanted to install from the "SuperDrive". and I got to wondering... do I have a SuperDrive?

Yes, I looked in the hardware config, and sure enough. Of course, then, not knowing about the cool Star Trek sliding door thingy, I had to google how to insert a disk.

Thanks Apple! for making things so cool I feel totally uncool. :-o

Don't feel bad, I bought my first Mac (Mac Pro) new from Apple in Feb. 2013. I ordered it with a SuperDrive and got angry when it arrived because I thought they forgot to install the drive.

After looking at the packing slip (which said it had a SuperDrive) I jumped on Google and found out how to eject too.

Even worse, mine came with an owners manual and I didn't even look there. I still haven't.

You're not alone :D

My Mac Pro wouldn't power on. I checked my UPS, make sure the power cord was plugged into the back of the Mac, tried different RAM, drives, expansion card configurations. Nothing worked, so I called Apple and hauled it to the store.

They plugged it in and it booted up, no issues whatsoever. Got home and it still didn't work.

After having spent a day on this issue, I decided I'd try another power cable.

Then I realized, my power cord was not plugged into the outlet on the UPS and I didn't even bother to check such a simple thing!

I'm still wondering who unplugged my cord in the first place though.
