I wouldn't feel comfortable giving anyone a deposit without an exact release day. This isn't kickstarter.

You can pay £30 and get one for sure on release day or let them know you are interested and they will let you know how many will likely be available. So pretty good really. Will likely be buying from there.

Guessing buying one sim free won't be an issue.

I'm not sure about sim free, all the major carriers have won bids on 4G bands and if I understand it correctly, they aren't all compatible with each other, I wouldn't want a phone that at a later date I couldn't use 4G on O2.

Well I'm on contract with vodafone with my iphone 5 so chances are I won't get 4G anytime soon until my contract ends in like 18 months so buying sim free is the only option. Don't see it being a problem as I would just buy outright.

Yes, don't quote me, it was something I read somewhere and could be having a senior moment, Vodaphone won't be long rolling out 4G (LTE?) though. Might be something to bear in mind though. :)

http://www.vodafone.co.uk/4g/ready-for-4g/index.htm

I know that when O2 have it they are offering a cut price buy out of contract for iPhone 5 owners without LTE.

Yeah I remember them stating that...not too bothered about 4G as I was before really.

Not sure how It would work though if I wanted to have 4G on my galaxy S4 when i'm on contract with my iphone 5.

Interesting

I've got about 18 months left on my iphone 5 contract and would be interested to know how much I would have to pay off too.

Obviously being with vodafone and the chance for them to pay for some of my contract when swapping my phone which would then have 4G...if I can get 4G I would do that..but not sure if it's possible.

Think chances are I will just buy it outright from carphone warehouse as doubt 4G is coming anytime soon in my area.

I believe its monthly line rental x months remaining minus VAT.

Selling mine for £250 and buying a new handset for £550 seems a bit too much, but doing it this way seems im only going to have to pay around £100.

On the iPhone, O2 will allow you to buy back the contract, same as Dave above says but with a discount of 25%, it"s called their price promise IIRC, one would also get a decent amount of cash back from selling the iPhone 5, I find that Mazuma is stress free for this, not the best prices given granted but I have sold them 4 or 5 phones hassle free.

The point about the rollout of LTE is a valid one from The Game61, I live in a rural area that still doesn't have fibre optic broadband yet so not holding out for LTE anytime soon either.

Just phoned T-Mobile and ive got 16 months left on my contact. To cancel will cost me £340. Keep in mind the S4 dosent come out for another 44 days, that fee will drop down to £320.

Can use one of these MobileValuer says the best offer for my S3 is currently £240.

Think im going to do this and then get the S4 on the £26 per month contract.

PS - tmobile confirmed its "Monthy Line Rental" X "Months Remaining" - "VAT"

They have stated they will have them april 26th.

Who is "they?" My service provider doesn't offer a release date, so I still wouldn't be in to it.

One thing you gotta give Apple- their keynotes usually offer specifics consumers care about. Price, release date (for multiple countries), stuff like that. I'd much rather have that info right now than the bad memories of tap dancing kids and derp faces that the Samsung presentation left me with.

Contracts seem to be getting worse and worse. I'll be surprised if there are any decent S4 ones upon release.

S'all about buying SIM free and using Giff Gaff until a good 4G plan becomes available.

Bigger upfront cost, but better monthly costs plus the freedom to change whenever you want.

My thoughts exactly :p
