Hard to formulate my question, but basically, if you use an M4 Pro, and the live multicam feature from FCP 2, does it use the internal ipad storage at all, or can you solely use an external drive?

I got the 256GB M4, because I didn't think I'd be doing videos or using FCP, but I'm just starting to dabble in it and want to make sure I can use it with external storage, or if I need to get an iPad with more internal storage.

Yes. It is based on where you save the project in FinalCut on the iPad doing the recording. If you save the project to an external drive, all the media will end up there.

Just be aware that the recordings are not made directly to the project in realtime. A lowres preview/proxy is recorded on the iPad live, but the full quality video is not transferred from the remote devices until after you’re done recording. So, keep in mind your remote devices will need an appropriate amount of free storage for what you’re recording.

I currently use scorecam on the ipad to stream via Twitch live sporting events of my grandkids. The big one is volleyball events. Since I love to push technology, I keep thinking is it possible to do multicam streaming with maybe the sw I am doing with FCP 2?
