i want to scream!

i previously used flickr to back up my iPhoto collection, but i dont always remember to add my pics to iPhoto, never mind to upload them to flickr, and then ironically i was worried about duplicates if i tried to back up folders id previously backed up.

but then i saw someone mention flickr uploader

all my pics are in folders by type so i thought, this is ideal, ill just forget about iPhoto backing up and have the uploader routinely back up my photos folder.

and you know what it says in the window of the app "all photos uploaded are private. we detect and ignore duplicates'

ideal.

except it doesnt. and now for every album called for example 'wedding' I've one called 'wedding (1)' and every picture is duplicated.

is there a quick way of fixing this? or am i best to bin the user name, create another account (since i dont use yahoo and flickr insists on yahoo my account is just for flickr)

it gets worse. i decided keeping the account but deleting all the pics in it was the way to go. did that, waited 10 mins for it to do so. then opened the uploader, added my picture folder, it rightly tells me there's 5000 and something pictures in there, but its only going to upload 3000 as the other 2000 are duplicates. they arent. so that will mean nearly half of my pics won't be uploaded...

why is no backup service perfect?
would switch to apple but too many pics so it'd cost
would use google but dont like how it resizes pics
flickr seems ideal, 1tb of space, free, automatic uploader...

EDIT, the problem is that it knows its uploaded them before, even though you've since deleted them, so the only way round it is to delete the account and create another one.

for anyone who ends up in the same position as me, apparently i was too hasty. if you right click in the folder in the uploader, one of the buttons says 'reupload'. if you use this itll re upload anything that was in the folder thats been on flickr before. unfortunately for me its too late as ive already wiped my old account, as googling brought up lots of people with the same problem and i only saw a post saying it was fixed, after this.
