Thought on Best IM and Task Manger

Two completely different issues I realize. I am planning on purchasing an iPhone soon but am still considering two things.

First, since there is a lack of a tasks list on the iPhone what have some of you current users determined works best (fastest, most full featured, good interface)?

Second, really is the same question for an IMer.

Best of the apps?

Thanks for the note about my user name...I was actually trying to see if there was a way to change it...distracted I was when signing up today.

I know there are apps available....any experience or recommendation.
