I see that MacMall has a good discount on Mac Airs. Any reason why it's not worth it to buy from them?

If you buy from Best Buy or Apple you get a $100 gift card. If that doesn't matter to you, then I'd purchase from Mac Mall because taxes will run you from $70-$100 anyway and they are tax free in many states.

Just be aware that all sales are final with them. They don't accept returns or exchanges. If you get a defective unit, though, an Apple store will take it back and exchange it for you.

They accept returns with a 15% restocking fee. I have bought several macs from them without any problems.

I'm concerned about the service at the Apple store if there's an issue with the laptop. Would they give the same level of service if I purchased the laptop from MacMall?

I've never had a problem taking a mac i bought from MacMall, Bestbuy or Microcenter to the apple store for diagnosis or repair.

You still get the 1 year Apple warranty and you can still purchase Apple Care. The Apple Geniuses won't care where you bought your Mac as long as it is still under warranty, and honestly I'm not even sure if there's a way for them to figure out where you bought it.

I had an issue last year with my Rev D that was purchased from MacMall, and the Apple Store took it back and serviced it without any problems at all.

RE: Buying from Macmall

Anyone else notice that the 4GB of RAM on the 13" MBAs are listed at 1066MHz DDR3 RAM instead of the 1333MHz listed on Apple's website? Also, the model numbers are different, too. MC969LL/A on Macmall versus MC966LL/A on Apple's website.

Any thoughts or opinions?

Thanks,
Jon

They're probably typos on the product information page. I just checked and the info looks correct now.
