Rumors have been flying that Apple's redesigning MacBooks & iMacs. But what will they look like?!
I read with interest the recent rumor that Apple was investigating using titanium for future MacBooks. It was interesting to me for a few reasons. First, Apple started using titanium again for the Apple Card. I thought that was an interesting touch. And then, of course, there's the titanium version of the Apple Watch. It got me thinking how Apple would use titanium in such a large scale with MacBooks. And then it occurred to me...
In October 2008, Apple introduced the aluminum unibody construction for the MacBook Pro enclosure using CNC machining. What if, in 2021, they introduce that they are going to be 3D printing titanium enclosures for the MacBooks? Maybe this is the next advancement in industrial design for Apple & how they started this process with the Apple Watch? Perhaps, like this article discusses, it's a combination of CNC and 3D printing to save on waste?
Alright onto the iMac... Now that Apple's going to be switching things over to the M1X, they have more flexible design options. And I was thinking about the latest monitor that Dell introduced at CES 2021. You can see a video demo of it here. Would Apple introduce a general display, like the previous 27-inch Thunderbolt Display, with a stand that could house an optional computer in the stand, essentially making it an iMac? Would that be confusing for consumers?
Thoughts?
