The 9.7 pros are starting to come down in price and *could* be an attractive upgrade for me and my Air1. I hate that you only get 2GB of RAM. But, I suspect the A9X processor and motion chip will still be solid performers for many years to come. Some say that the Air2 is a better buy if you dont need the pencil(I dont) and can live without the tru-tne display. I never liked the Air2 though because of the vibrations I felt through the screen with the volume turned up.

Anyways - I know its a discontinued model but it doesnt seem that "outdated" at this point. Of course, if most say its wiser to just get the 10.5 Pro then I might do that but Im looking to save some cash here too. My use case is pretty average: Gaming, surfing, streaming with some productivity stuff thrown in. Nothing crazy.

I bought this on sale when the 10.5 was introduced. I prefer the size--it is an excellent small sketchbook
reader.

Depends on what you want for the money. It's a great premium iPad, a soul successor for the Air 2.
However, the 2017 iPad pretty much can do the same things, minus the pen and quad speaker. If you can get the 9.7 pro for cheap, then go for it.

9.7 IPad Pro is a special device. For 3 reasons when I saw the 12.9” Pro I was blown away and said there’s no way they make that into a 9.7” Version and they did only better camera and a higher quality display with True Tone and more Vibrant colors. Not to mention the Stylus. The 9.7” Pro will see full support for at least 3 more years until support for 2GB RAM devices is phased out.

Nothing in terms of performance is making out the A9X or its 12 Core GPU.

At this point only Synthetic BenchMarks Exists to tell you which is faster It’s Not like you will humanly see any difference even though the A10X is 30% Faster it’s not as if websites or YouTube Load 30% Faster It’s just a Synthetic Benchmark.

I bought a brand new iPad Pro 9.7 Space Gray 2 weeks ago, with the gray Smart Cover and Smart Case. I love it. Super sound, REALLY thin, nice display, it's also been smooth on iOS 11.1.

Hehe, I also like the idea of having a top model that can not be bought anymore.
I want to say like the others. If you can get one for a good price, then buy.

Great replies - thanks all. Im closely watching prices and will probably pounce on the next deal! :)
