After almost 2 months nMP (6 core, 512, D700, 16GB) and the refurbished 27" thunderbolt actually arrived on my birthday. It was a breeze to set up and only took me about 2 hours to reinstall my apps and my VMware fusion windows domain (2008 R2, Exchange 1010 and windows 7/8 clients). I read about the coil whine and can barely hear it but its there if I put my ear up close but a non issue. Finally it became louder and I realized it was the WD HD drive heads that was making the noise when I was transferring data otherwise I can barely hear the coil whine form the machine.
Overall I'm pretty impressed. Not only is it a work of art and doubles as a cat feeder, it is fast. I did turn everything up on X-plane 10 and it got choppy but I hear thats typical of X-plane. Hopefully they will release an update to leverage both GPUs.
EDIT: I think I'm going to have to bump it up to 32GB soon. Im sitting pretty with the Windows 2008 r2 domain controller, exchange server 2010, and 1 windows 7 client running with a nice 174MB free lol.
