There's a guy on a local Facebook selling thing with a 2012 mini, 4 GB, 500 GB HDD, off brand wireless keyboard, mouse, and a Memorex CD drive. For $225.

I'm very tempted at that price. He bought it from a pawn shop, which worries me a bit. No boxes. I haven't asked if it's all signed out of iCloud.

Any thoughts? I don't really care for the accessories but he said he's looking for an iPad or $225, doubt he'll go down if I tell them to keep them.

Assuming it’s a dual core...if in good shape it’s a solid deal. Not earth shattering but solid.

If a quad core it’s a steal.

Sounds like a nice price if it's in good condition and you have any faith in the seller. A couple big "ifs" there.... FWIW, MacSales charges about $500 for this same computer. But theirs are tested and offer a 90 day warranty and two week money back guarantee.

I dont think there was quad 2012 mini with a 500gb hard drive, was there? Sounds like he's looking at the base model mini, which is still a pretty decent machine.

Very true. The trouble with Facebook is you get to see what the seller is in to. That extra risk is causing me to still be cautious, even at that discount.

I didn’t think there was a quad sold with a 500gb either, but it is replaceable and who knows what’s been done to it :)

There was - I had one.

Of course I upgraded to an SSD / added more RAM, but I'm pretty sure it was 500GB initially, and that I have the drive somewhere around here still.
