The app is a workout tracker to log your exercises at the gym. What do you think of the icon?

I like the colors and the direction you're going in.

First as someone often called upon to play the role of graphic designer on my team (I'm not by trade, but of my team of designer/developers I am often tasked with this role) and as a formerly avid lifter, I have two suggestions.

  1. I recommend adding a third plate to each end. I feel if not given a description beforehand, I would have struggled for a moment to make the connection. I realize context is immensely helpful, but just a first impression :)
  2. I would like to see the handle slightly thicker. Just my preference given past experiences.
Just my two cents, otherwise I like it. And I am nitpicking honestly.

I'd work on the spacing between the elements. Right now they feel a little too spaced apart. But I'd want to see it reproduced at the smallest size it will appear and see how it looks then.

Not crazy about stair-stepped gradient. I'd prefer either a smooth gradient or a solid color.

i think you have a good start, if you just flip the color shame and add a depth

and if you can name it something that starts with an H like "HEAVY" or "HeavyTrac" you might be going the right direction

I flipped the colors and changed the spacing a little. I do like the step gradient on the other one because it sort of represents the list style that you find in the app screenshot. I played around with having 3 plates on each side but I think that just adds too much to the icon.

I would reduce the size of gap between the handle and the plates, and add the bar ends. Currently it's looking to much like a trains wheels to me. On the right track (pun intended) by needs tightening up.

Not sure why you have chosen to use rounded corners? I would prefer squared edges. Soft edges don't say weight training to me.
