Well it is finally time for me to report yet another iChat set of features that lay hidden in the files installed on your very own hard drive (should you own Jaguar)! While examining the "SmileyTable.plist" file in the /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/InstantMessage.framework/Contents/Versions/A/Resources/English.lproj/ directory, i opened it in BBEdit and found - get this, 3 new smilies!!!!!! i repeat...
3 NEW SMILIES!

Yes, they were commented out so they wouldn't be used by iChat or the property list editor supplied in the developer tools, but here they are! Oh, yeah, i forgot to mention. The actual pictures aren't included. That's probably why they didn't activate these smilies:

:| or :-| - Named "Ambivalent".

:d or :-d - Named "Yum".

^_^ - named "Grin", with the file name "anime" hehe

There you have it. I'm sure this will excite you even more about the iChat release coming up than the other stuff i found!

Cool... I can't wait for the next update. I want them to activate the Voice and Video chat features, which shouldn't be too hard to do now that MPEG-4 licencing seems to be worked out.

Man, I hope Apple includes vido/voice integration with iChat. I messed around with vidoe chat a long time ago but gave up because it's too complicated and not worth the time. I'm sure Apple will do it with style and make is super easy to use. If they do, I'm gonna have to save up to buy a webcam. How do you think they'll go about utilizing webcams if these features do appear? Will Apple sell it's own webcam or supply 3rd party drivers to allow them to support iChat...or both? Oh, am I'm totally ready for some new emoticons!!
