First off I'm running 10.3.9 on an iMac G4. For most of the time I've had the computer (very rarely the first two years or so) I've gotten the occasional screen-darkens-slightly-and-gives-a-message-in-a-few-languages-telling-me-I-must-restart problem. The only option when it happens is to hold down the power button until the computer shuts off. I don't have any idea what causes it and I can't pinpoint any specific time when it happens. My Problem with it is that it's been happening much more often lately. It actually seemed to increase with the 10.3.9 update.
My second problem just started yesterday and it's a little more weird. All of a sudden the mouse froze and I couldn't do anything, then after about 10 seconds I could move it again, but nothing could be clicked on, then about ten seconds after that I can click on things and it works fine. Then repeat. The problem persists until I restart or shut down which is a must because it's essentially unusable. It happened last night and again this afternoon.
My last problem is stranger still and has to do with iTunes. This afternoon when I turned on my computer I opened up iTunes via the dock. It bounced a couple times and stopped, however the window never shows up and the iTunes menu doesn't appear where that of the viewed application usually does. Right-clicking the iTunes icon only gives me the options "show in finder," "hide" and "force quit" along with above them gray text saying "application is not responding."
So I'm at a bit of a loss as to what to do here. These three problems are proving quite inconvenient. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated, and I would really like to fix this without reinstalling the OS.
Thanks in advance,
Andrew
