I've just gone out and bought the new 27" iMac (top spec, but with no 'upgrades'* - I can't justify a Pro), only to discover that my RAID external HDD (LaCie) is using a Thunderbolt 2 cable. Firstly: I know I should have known this, but once it was plugged in (several years ago) it has just worked and I've had no reason to look at the cable again. Secondly: What I really want to know is - what is the best way to connect it to my new iMac? As far as I can tell Apple's AU$69 adaptor is the only solution. Surely somebody makes a cable with Thunderbolt 2 at one end and Thunderbolt 3 at the other? My Google search would imply otherwise, so please correct my ignorance!

* I plan on upgrading the RAM through Crucial.com, rather than paying Apple's overinflated prices.

I wish someone would make a TB2 to TB3 cable so I could dispense with the Apple adapter, but it works great so... :)
