I have a 2013 iMac and a Datatale Thunderbolt 4 drive enclosure configured as a JBOD. I do a lot of data transfers on and off 4 3TB drives in the enclosure. I don't use any raid and address them as separate disks. I have no other Thunderbolt peripherals.

I'm likely ordering a 2017 iMac this week, losing my TB2 ports for the new USB-C shaped TB3.

Reviews for the Thunderbolt 3 to 2 adapter are terrible, but most of the complaining is about compatibility and displays. I can't seem to find if this small device is likely to handle large file moves well or not, nor can I find any tech documents.

Maybe the $49 is better put towards a native Thunderbolt 3 enclosure for the four drives, but the products available seem to be very young and not really have any reviews yet, so I'm not sure which way to go.

Any advice? Any experience with the Thunderbolt 3 to 2 adapters performance with drives? Any experience with 4 drive enclosures native to TB3 yet?

Thanks in advance MR peeps!
