I’ve got the Caldigit TS3 and it doesn’t work with the iPad. It won’t even charge it.

Will it charge it from the front Thunderbolt port? (I use the TS3+ on my desk - it’d be great if that front port could charge the new iPP.)

The SD card reader should at least work - I've seen a couple of video reviews where they try these hubs and they do work.

So far in the tests I’ve seen, no Thunderbolt 3 devices worked with the iPad Pro.

USB-C will work on both iPad Pro and MacBook Pro, though it’s slower than TB3.

So far everything USB-C I’ve plugged into my iPad Pro, that you’d expect to work, has. USB-C Hubs, Flash Drives (photo/video only) and so on.

Nope. It would have been handy for me as the TS3+ sits on my desk and I wanted to use it with the extremely short usb c cable supplied with the iPad.

Just got back to my office for the first time with my new iPP. My TS3+ does charge the iPad from either the front or rear usb-c port, albeit slowly, but that’s to be expected as these ports should be putting out just 7.5W. Better than nothing though!

You’re correct. It turns out caldigit have released a download that updates the TS3 to allow iPad/iPhone charging. Once installed it now charges the iPad Pro.

It should be noted that "USB C" is only the spec for the plug and socket. It does not ever specify the services and/or data protocols present.

Also, from what I've read, the USB-C<>USB-C cable supplied with the new iPad Pros supports only PD (Power Delivery, aka Charging) and USB-2 data transfer. Aftermarket cable may support USB-3.1gen1, USB-3.2gen2, display, and/or TB3. Not only must the computer (iPad Pro, ...) and device (hub, display adapter, ...) support the desired protocol, but the cable must also provide support.

Quite - it’s the only “pro” device/laptop I have that cannot be charged while sitting on a desk due to the short cable.

But seriously, Jonny Ive has gone too far. Can't he see it? At home or work, my desks are now all ugly jungles of cheap Chinese dongles. All in the name of what?
