I have a 27' Thunderbolt display connected to a 12' Macbook Pro (Late 2011). This display was working perfectly before I downloaded El Capitan and now the display goes black after a few minutes of use. Does anyone know why this is happening? I have read threads about this happening a lot with orders OS's but there isn't and fixes.

Thanks

I got my second screen to turn on again by changing screen savers. I'm seeing a problem with the second screen not wanting to turn on after Energy Saver turns off the screens.

It seems only to happen with the Thunderbolt display. I have my laptop connected to my TV right now with no issues. I should've pointed out that the display goes black and turns back on. Does it every few minutes.

Oddly enough, it may be the cable between the display and your mac. I had a similar issue after a point release in Yosemite, so I figured it was a software issue. I eventually read somewhere that the integrated thunderbolt/magsafe cable can be problematic, and to try a different thunderbolt cable.

No issues since I've done that.

YMMV, but worth a shot.

Did you ever find a fix for this? Mine is weird: ever since "upgrading" to el capitan my thunderbolt display is just . . . temperamental. It'll work in the mornings, but not in the afternoons. Weird. Frustrating.

[doublepost=1496894963][/doublepost]Try this.

Unplug the power for 10 second to your display then turn it back on.

Then go to System Preferences, Energy Saver, choose the “Turn Display off after:” to “Never”.

It is not the power problem or the cable problem of the firmware issue!!!

Good Luck
