Hey...

With luck I'm hoping to order a new (or refurb) 16" MacBook Pro in a couple of weeks, to replace my aging, 7-year-old 13" MBP.

Is it possilble to use my Thunderbolt Display on the new Mac? I've been Googling and haven't come up with anything definitive, and none of the docks I've looked at seem to have a port for it.

FWIW I was going to sell it and get a new 4k/USB C display to replace it, but since I'm not made of money, that would have to wait a bit.

So... will it work, or should I go ahead and plan on selling it ASAP?

Thanks.

Rob

Hahah thanks! Damn I knew I had seen one of those somewhere...

Thank you again.

Have you had any issues getting it to work? I have one and as well as a MBP 16". Sometimes they work fine together (using the adapter), even on bootcamp. However, other times the display fails to wake up. Even after reboots, disconnecting all cables and retrying.

I still have my old Macbook Air that I can connect it to along with the power cable. When I power that up then the monitor awakes, but I'd rather not have to do that.

Nah it's working fine! I'm using the genuine Apple adapter if that makes a difference. FWIW, when I wake the laptop, the Thunderbolt display lags a couple of seconds behind it, but so far it has always awakened.
