Thunderbolt HDMI Samsung TV not recognized

Macbook Air mid 2012 running El Capitan 10.11.3. Since updating to El Capitan the computer doesn't recognize the Samsung TV it always used to recognize via thunderbolt hdmi adapter. Tried all the tricks (NVRAM/PRAM reset, SMC Reset, Detect display, unplugging tv, changing cable, changing adapter) but nothing seems to work. Any new idea? It's really annoying at this point. Apple doesn't seem to have a solution to this.

Call Samsung to see if they have a solution.
Connect to tv to Internet and upgrade its software, if it has one.

In other words, you're probably out of luck with El Capitan and will have to move back to Yosemite. Samsung shouldn't have to be responsible for fixing compatibilities that Apple broke.

Try going into system preferences and change the scaling of the external display from default to the one above it. This has been reported to work. It has also been reported that updating Samsung firmware is not a fix.

Actually, yeah. If Apple didn't messed up the port and the problem is OS specific (drivers, protocols, certificates) it's 100% on Samsung, otherwise they should say "OS X not supported".

As the OP said, the TV worked just fine with the Mac until the update to El Capitan. It's Apple that caused the problem, therefore it's up to Apple to fix the problem.
