I have 2 MacPro 2019 with nearly identical config. The first one was bought upon release but never used (until now). The other I have been using since early 2020 and never had any problems.

The 1st one I bought in HK but couldn't get it until recently (due to covid) and just turned it on - it is basically brand spanking new (unfortunately Apple Care that I bought with it has long expired).

I noticed that both Thunderbolt Proximity 1 & 2 temperature is consistently high - above 70c and I have NOTHING running!

My 2nd MacPro hovers in the 50s.

Both have the 2.5GHz Core with AMD Radeon Pro Vega II Duo 32GB with 4TB SSD.

The only difference is that the 1st one (the one with the high temp) has the original 32GB Apple RAM, whereas the 2nd one has 384GB RAM

Everything else seems to be cool?? See attached pic....

Any ideas?

Many Thanks!

KK

When you run Apple Diagnostics on it, what does it report?

Interesting, which software do you get that readout with? On my 7,1 I use iStat Menues and don't see any Thunderbolt proximity. Maybe it's a reading from a sensor of the Vega II MPX GPU?
