Hi, wondering if anyone has any ideas

I have Mac 13inch mid 2012

I want to connect it to an external monitor

I have a Thunderbolt > VGA adaptor

The connection has always been a bit dodgy (since I bought the mac),
in the way that I'd have to move the cable around in the thunderbolt port a bit to get it working
i.e. pull it out a little bit or else the display wouldn't appear on monitor

(I've used multiple monitors and other Thunderbolt > VGA adaptors)

Sometimes in moving it around, it would pretty much reset the mac (or put the display off so much I'd have to reset it)

But now, even with moving it around, it won't send to external monitor. I get a few flickers on mac screen, but nothing on external monitor.

Any ideas on how to fix?

Can you get to an external display using firewire port??
Or any other methods??

Thanks
