Thunderbolt2 external drive keeps powering on and off

I have a
LaCie 2big Thunderbolt™ 2 connected to my 2013 Mac Pro and I had to disconnect it because, while my computer was sleeping, the drive keeps turning on and off all night long, all day long, every 1 minute or so. How do I deal with such a thing with an external thunderbolt 2 drive? Is my only hope to get a bigger internal drive?

I have an Areca 8050 8-disk RAID that was doing the same thing! So then I turned off “wake for network access” and “power nap” I also have “prevent computer from putting hard drives to sleep” maybe that will work for you?
