Ok so I have to dig out my Ti 89 again after a one year hiatus from math :( . Just recently, I tossed out the old PC and switched over to Mac with an iBook. Now I need to transfer my programs onto the Ti 89 but it appears that my old Graph Link isn't going to work since there aren't any ports which look like this.

My question-
1) Is there an adaptor I can buy which will transform this into USB?
2) If there is will it work on Mac (it just works right?)?

Thanks guys

All up in your bidness
The Graph Link is supposed to connect to a PC's serial port. It would be possible to connect it to a Mac's serial port with an adapter. Macs, of course, have not come with serial ports since the late '90s, so you would need a USB-serial adapter. That would address the hardware side of things. In terms of software, you would either need to Google to find a Mac program that works with the Graph Link cable, or else perhaps the TI software itself would work from inside Virtual PC.

VersionTracker is your friend for locating software. Apparently the new OSX replacement for Graphlink is TI Connect (just updated and Tiger compatible, even):

http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/mac/20761

Versiontracker also lists a firmware update that can be uploaded with this to add some features to the TI-89.

You're obviously going to have to come up with a USB adapter for the calculator, too. TI's online store sells USB adapters for the TI-89 Titanium for $5, but I'm thinking those won't work on older TI-89s... perhaps one of the aforementioned serial-USB adapters will do the trick.
