Starting with iOS 18, Apple said event tickets in the Wallet app on the iPhone are able to offer an all-new design that displays key information, and Ticketmaster today announced that it will be the first ticketing company to roll out this enhanced experience.

The redesigned tickets will include more relevant information about an event, such as a map of the venue, parking details, recommended Apple Music playlists, local forecasts from the Weather app, and quick access to location sharing. In addition, venues and sports teams can add links to their app or website to the ticket.

Ticketmaster said the first event that will offer its redesigned tickets in the Wallet app will be Los Angeles FC's upcoming match against the San Jose Earthquakes at BMO Stadium on Saturday, October 19. iPhone users who have updated their device to iOS 18 or later can add their tickets to the Wallet app through the Ticketmaster or LAFC apps.

Ticketmaster said the Miami Heat will be the next team to debut the new ticket experience, but it did not say when, and the new tickets will roll out more widely in 2025.

If I'm ever able to beat the bots and actually score concert tickets, I guess I can now expect to pay even higher convenience fees to cover this exciting new enhanced ticket experience on iPhone. Of the many things I've asked of Ticketbastard, this was not one of them. How they've been allowed to run so amuck for so long is baffling.

Yet Americans will still use the service and complain

I’m Canadian, what’s the alternative? Don’t ever go see any of my favorite bands live while I have the chance? Never go see my favorite sports teams play? Ticketmaster/Live Nation have a monopoly on most major venues in North America. There is no viable alternative for the consumer unless you expect them to give up nearly everything they love in entertainment.

Very sadly, you are very correct.
There are other ticketing agencies that have tried, but Ticketmaster either acquires (and buries) them.

Then there are the few other ones still around but last time I tried to use one instead, the tickets were about twice as expensive. I'd go anywhere else other than Ticketmaster or their other brands but most of the time there isn't any other option, sometimes there is but usually more expensive.

Live Nation and Ticketmaster is a monopoly, do not love them and wish American politicians weren't bought off by their lobbyists. but at least Apple integrates them top tier now? Whoopie (sarcastically)

Yeah it’s really bad. I tried to get Citi presale tickets for Dave Matthews Band at Madison Square Garden, and I was 25,000 in line. Trust me, as a big fan of them, there are not 25,000 human beings with Citi presale cards waiting for a Dave Matthews Band presale. They still play big venues, but they’re always selling like 80% of the seats.

I'm not really a live event-goer, had no idea the situation was so bad. If there really is a monopoly or collusion screwing over the entire market, the government urgently needs to step in.

But regarding Wallet, what a great convenience it has become. It has replaced pretty much all my physical cards and tickets, and has almost made digging through emails for scan codes and info a thing of the past. Just needs a bit more official adoption/acceptance for me to completely stop carrying my physical wallet. Pretty sure it will happen eventually, just hope it's sooner rather than later. Also can't wait to stop carrying physical keys. I pretty much just need a car that supports Car Keys. It's a real bummer about the slow adoption with that. I had to purchase a car relatively recently and none of the limited number of supported cars were of interest to me. Next car purchase has to have it for sure.

In other parts of the economy, what Ticketmaster does would be a crime. Let's say, if someone hoards all the bottled water in a town ahead of a big natural disaster and then try to sell it for a much higher price after said disaster I think that would be considered a crime. Ticketmaster day in and they out profits from people hoarding tickets for events they have no plan to attend just for the greed of selling them later at a higher price, with Ticketmaster usually getting a cut of that transaction (both the sale and the resale). I think something has to be done to end these abusive practices.
