So I decided I wanted to play TIE Fighter again for 1st time in over 10 years, and after failed attempts with an emulator, I found myself picking up an iMac G3, a Microsoft Sidewinder 3D Pro for Mac, and a Griffin iMate to allow plugging the joystick into the G3. I researched carefully and thought I picked a joystick that is compatible with the game and operating system (OS 9.1). I've downloaded the driver/installation file from Microsoft and Cnet, but Stuffit Expander just won't open it. The file is MACSW3D.bin. When I click on it, I see Stuffit Expander very briefly open, a window appears to be opening on the screen, and then it just disappears without anything else. Sherlock 2 can't find anything related to it on hard drive.
Sorry for long post, but obviously this is a worthy cause!
Any tips on opening .bin files or other thoughts would be very appreciated. One thing that worries me is that the CNET page said the file requires OS X to run, but that doesn't make sense, because the joystick came out in 1997, and my newer Mac views it as a Classic file...
