Happy 2022 everyone! :)

Not my video but a pretty neat one by Greg Hrutkay in which he installs fourteen different operating systems on a mid-2007 iMac and makes the claim - with quite reasonable justification that it's the most versatile Mac (in terms of macOS compatibility) produced by Apple to date.

I wonder what his reasoning was behind singling out that particular machine?
He might not know these early 2008 machines can “unofficially” run Tiger. I mean, in another video he called Tiger on Intel “useless” due to the lack of the Classic environment, so he may not be interested in it.

I feel like it's cheating a bit to use OpenCore, since it's a Hackintosh bootloader. I'm sure I could find some generic PC hardware that could run all these systems too, and I'd probably be able to get better compatibility since I could e.g. install two different graphics cards.

Anyone know which Mac can officially support the widest variety of OS's?

Correction:
Mid 2012 MacBook Pro. Officially: Lion to Catalina.
Late 2013 Mac Pro. Officially: Mavericks to Monterey.

I'm surprised that the PM9500 hasn't been mentioned yet.

So far, with upgrades:
iMac 2007: 10.4.10 (2007-06-20) to 12.1 (2021-12-13) - 5310 days +
Mac Pro 2008: 10.4.11 (2007-11-14) to 12.1 (2021-12-13) - 5163 days +
Power Macintosh 9500: 7.5.3 (1996-03-11) to 10.5.8 (2009-08-13) - 4902 days
Mac Pro 2009: 10.5.6 (2008-12-15) to 12.1 (2021-12-13) - 4766 days +

I bought my early 07 mac mini just to run Tiger.

You can stream 720p YouTube/Twitch with any Intel Tiger Mac, and quite honestly it's the fastest OS you can run on machines of that era. I bought my Mac mini 07 to be the first person to port Half-Life to Tiger, but I now also use it as my main home theater PC, with it connected to my TV in my bedroom.

Greg also says Monterey is basically unusable on that machine. He also released another short video later saying it still doesn't work after he tried other things to get Monterey running better.

My early 2008 Imac was bought with Leopard. The machine is European, assembled in the Czech Republic and sold in Spain. He officially went through another six versions and stayed in El Capitan. With Colin's patch he can reasonably work 4 more until Catalina, but from Mojave he starts to be very lazy. And with the Open Core hackintosh for BigSur and Monterrey it is a joke in bad taste. I have lost the original DVD and the Ilife 08 DVD, but I don't miss them

NICE.

Could you share with us the first three characters of your iMac’s serial? That knowledge can be added to a side project I’ve been working on for a while, and so far, I’ve managed to find only one entry which originates in the Czech Republic.

Here with Catalina. It works very well but it is not agile. For what I do it is not too practical.

I'd rather like to run Tiger in a VirtualMachine.
Fusion doesn't support that officially, but I'm sure you might know about ways to get it running (wether Fusion or VirtualBox doesn't matter).
