Universal TikTok will start collecting FacePrint and VoicePrint from users

According to TheVerge, the social media app TikTok will start collecting FacePrints and VoicePrints under new privacy policy changes that are vague. If you are a user of TikTok, you might want to reconsider your usage. TikTok seems rather invasive to me.

I get it is Social Media and others are doing it as well. I don't do Social Media so maybe I am a little hyper sensitive to it. I don't think it is a good thing to be doing from a security standpoint. I think too many people are apathetic to the fact that they have allowed themselves to become the product while companies like this continue to be invasive.

Yeah, I don't do any social media. Only antisocial media like forums ...

I hold Facebook in utter contempt as well. People should be concerned about the Social Media giants but, they (as a whole) don't seem to be.

Facebook is no better, but it's a completely different product. You share your pictures, you post links, and you make comments and probably use Messenger. TikTok is a video sharing service where people post videos primarily of their face or their body in full view in motion, using their voice in different ways that make having this data extremely sensitive in comparison.

Right. Like you, I personal face and voice data prints as mentioned here to be sensitive. I don't think a company needs said data in the first place. I guess a lot of people aren't paying attention to the caloric app content feature in the App Store, or they don't care so long as they get their fix.
