Ive tried a few things so far... and its only appeared to make things worse
so at first i got this error message
"iMac.sparsebundle” could not be created (error 22)."
i read this in another forum and tried it:
"Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility
Click on the name of your hard drive that has the exact same name as the drive on your desktop. If you have not changed the name, it will be Macintosh HD.
Click Verify Disk Permissions and wait for the message. If you need to Repair Disk Permissions, go ahead and do this. Depending on how much data you have on your drive, it may take 30-45 minutes or more for this to complete."
then i restared the computer.
when i turned the computer back on it was still not working.. so i decided to reset my time capsule and start again as if it were brand new.
when i open up time machine preferences, its off, and when i 'select backup disk' i do not see my time capsule.. but i have it set up.
