Time Capsule/Time Machine Issue...

Not sure if this should be posted here or under peripherals, so if I'm in wrong place, my apologies.

I recently started afresh with my MBP by backing up via time capsule / time machine, formatting hard drive, reinstalling ML and then adding files back via time machine. However, at that time I did not add back all music and photos/videos because I wanted to do this after everything was back up and running (and only add SOME of the contents from those libraries). But, when i got back up and running, time machine backs up but does not allow me to see any of the previous backups before i started over. For example, I cannot go back to any backup prior to September 28 (and these obviously do not include photos or music since they are not presently on my HDD).

Any idea what is happening? How can I access the photos and music that is stored on the time capsule?

I had a similar situation..........after my clean install of ML, access to all of my previous Time Machine Backups were unavailable.

Thank you SO MUCH. Found my files and am breathing easier now. Now i have a second question: Is there a way to restore SOME of my pictures from the iPhoto library and not all of them? I'd like to keep some on there to save space...

So my understanding is that the iPhoto Library is a bundle of files that should not be modified outside of iPhoto. I think the safest thing to do would be to restore your entire library and then remove the photos you dont want. Either deleting them, or exporting them first in case you want to put them else where.

I haven't tried to restore partially from iPhoto, but I've done it from Mail. The trick is that the application you want to restore has to have Time Machine support built-in, and I will assume that iPhoto does.

So launch iPhoto and go to the menu bar and enter Time Machine. It should move iPhoto to the "time-machine-galaxy-background mode", and from there just move back and start restoring either events or albums or whatever is that you want restored.

Restored Mailbox from Time Machine

Apologies if this is the wrong forum but I cannot find where to post my question.

I deleted a Mailbox from Mail - was not in the Trash Can or in my Trash in Mail.
So went into Time Machine - selected a time a few hours pervious to current time - went into the Mail and my Box [Receipts] was there with everything I needed.

Selected it - Clicked Restore - it zoomed back to actual Mail and a then I simply could not locate it.

There was no TimeMachine Recovered file as there usually is.

So if anyone can help me I would be very appreciative.

A Time Machine restore of a Mail folder will be placed in the Mail app in a new folder under "On my Mac" called "Time Machine > Recovered Messages".
