Hi Guys
i Have 2014 iMac 5 k and i am looking at buying a external hard drive , i like the look of time capsule ,
the question is can i use time capsule just as a external hard drive noting else and if so can i use it wired ,
i am not interested in using over the wifi network.
Thanks

You can use it as a NAS, albeit rather a slow one for normal use.

Unless you want to use for time machine and wireless router, get a normal external USB/TB drive.

Ethernet would make it more stable but I don't think it would speed it up. From what I can remember the internals of the Time Capsule are the limiting factor.

It would still be pretty slow. Seriously you do not want to be using a TC as an external HDD device. There are much much better alternatives out there for what you are wanting, Apple actually sell a few of them.
